Information Design, assorted
Hungarian mathematician George Polya in his book "How to Solve It" of year 1945 has named drawing pictures or diagrams among the most common heuristic methods of understanding the problem. And this perfectly defines the function of Information Design in it's visual approach.
If image that you will see in this section does not belong to any particular project or session, then it was probably made solely for sake of understanding or communicating a certain problem, structure, process or story. All rights belong to me if not mentioned otherwise.

Large Hadron Collider
10 January 2010
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a gigantic scientific instrument near Geneva, where it spans the border between Switzerland and France about 100 m underground. It is a particle accelerator used by physicists to study the smallest known particles – the fundamental building blocks of all things. It will revolutionise our understanding, from the minuscule world deep within atoms to the vastness of the Universe.

Artemy Lebedev Studio Infodesigner Test Task
12 January 2010
I found this test task on 5th of January, 2010. The challenge was so inviting, I couldn't resist. The feedback was: "Well yeah, pretty much Europe. Your typography could be better."
I took it as a compliment. It is relevant — I use European style and I was going to call this year a typography year anyway. Thanks, guys.

Four Basic Tropes in Semiotics
31 May 2009
This chart is based on the painting of Pablo Picasso "Acrobat on the Ball".
So, four basic Tropes (defined by G. Vico) in Semiotics are: 1. Metaphor — Similarity despite difference (explicit in the case of simile): I work at the coalface == I do the hard work here; 2. Metonymy — Relatedness through direct association: I'm one of the suits == I'm one of the managers; 3. Synecdoche — Relatedness through categorical hierarchy: I deal with the general public == I deal with customers; 4. Irony — Inexplicit direct opposite (more explicit in sarcasm): I love working here == I hate working here.

Pink Floyd Timeline 1960-2000
10 April 2009
The infamous Pink Floyd Chart. I don't have much to say on it. I like Pink Floyd. This band is one of those rare artists which I can share with my parents. With this chart I wanted to express my fascination and feelings this music gives me. How my conscious looses the body and floats on the waves of Pink Floyd, lost in enormous space and timeless.
P.S.: Mysterious tea set at the very beginning represents very first name of the band.

Do it Like Pollock
6 March 2009
Once I stumbled upon a funny post: If Jackson Pollock were an economist. It's looked like a nice idea for an infographics, so I've found a proper diagram on How People Use Twitter, and I used the percentage given in the diagram. I asked my friend to find the radius of each circle using percentage as an area, simple PHP script and a formule S=pi * r^2. Given values were used for visualization. I manipulated some of shapes in order to make it look like Pollock's painting(if you can help me with the painting ID, I will really appreciate it.) Now the diagram gives only approximate values due to the manual manipulation, but I am sure it's easy to solve once one knows visualization languages like Processing. Pollock is god.
